Looking for the King - Part 1

Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

It was so beautiful and all the same astonishing on that particular evening. All of a sudden, my friends and I we noticed a star in the sky that immediately caught our attention because it was shining much brighter than all the other stars around her and was announcing the birth of a very special King: the King of the Jews. The message was so clear that we have decided to go to Bethlehem to worship Him. It is a long and strenuous trip but we are convinced that it is worth going there, because the birth of this child is going to change our story and will definitely impact mankind.

Even though He was born in a manger, the King that I am looking for is not an ordinary king. He is even greater than king Herod who tried to kill Him by committing a genocide in Bethlehem, for he ordered every child from zero to two years of age to be killed (Matthew 2:3-8; 16-18). This King was born of a virgin and there is no sin in Him. He is the Savior of humanity and has come to save His people from their sins and give eternal life to all those who believe in Him. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But this new born child is also the Lamb of God that will be slain for our sins in order to reconcile us with God. He has a mission to fulfill and nothing, yes nobody will be able to stop His plan.

The birth of this King is a unique event that had been announced a long time ago by the prophet Isaiah as he said: “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined” (Isaiah 9:2). This child is the light of the world that comes to give light to all those that are wondering about the meaning of their life. He is the way, the life and the truth (John 14:6). I am looking for Him because I know that He is the answer to all the questions I’ve ever had. Moreover, the thoughts that He has for me are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give me a future and an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11).

The King that I am looking for is coming to restore justice and give hope to everyone. He has come in the world to set the captives free and His kingdom will have no end. I know deep within my heart that my life will never be the same again once I have met personally with this King, and I am so happy to know that His arms are always wide open for me because He loves me with an everlasting love. The King that I am seeking after is the Son of the living God who is given to us as an expression of God’s love. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). I believe in Him and the longing of my heart is to worship Him because He first loved me. mt
