Spiritual lessons for Christians
LESSON 1

TOTAL AFFECTION FOR CHRIST! A REMEDY TO A SOUND MIND!

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Heart: represents the spirit of man, the spirit of man is the life that the Lord blew into Adam the human spirit, the source of human life.

Soul: represents the entire being of a man, Man is made of three components body, soul, spirit. Man became a living soul, the soul also represents our emotions.

Mind: represents the center of our daily thoughts. If we control our thoughts, we have power to control our destiny. This is the reason the Holy Spirit is so important for our lives. The Lord wants to ordain our steps, He wants to direct us on the right path that we will experience the fullness of life.

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Strength: with all our might, not our physical might but the full power of our minds, continual thoughts of His grace, goodness, faithfulness, forgiveness with love!

Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

...thy neighbor as thyself: Work to maintain a healthy and Christian like attitude with everyone you meet, this will provide a solid foundation for healing of the mind and the soul.

These three portions of Scripture show a progressive form of growth towards a healthy Christian relationship with God, it’s all about love and relationship!

Romans 7:23-25: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God - through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

The flesh wages war against the mind; the mind must gain control to bring the flesh under the captivity of our minds. The stability of the mind is an important issue in the life of a Christian’s growth. We can gain discipline of the mind through our relationship with Christ. Prayer is the key to soundness of mind, coupled with the understanding of God’s Word!

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

We should present our beings to God as living sacrifice. What does that mean? We should make ourselves available for the sake of God’s kingdom which is not the world. We need to be transformed to the things pertaining to His kingdom. To the world you conform, but to be in His kingdom we need to be transformed. By this we know that two kingdoms are involved. We were born first into this world and then born again into a new world not known by the mind of flesh, but by the Spirit. He brings new understanding along with a new life.

The Word of God has the power to restore your mind and to help you release and control the thoughts that come against you. lg
